I have been drawing since I could hold a tool to make marks. It wasn't until 2014, after my daughter graduated from high school, that I decided to pursue an art career. Prior to that, I shared the love of art through teaching for 18 years. Since leaving my teaching career, I have found passion in providing portraits to families who have lost a loved one. It is through this work that I feel most alive, I feel I am truly living my purpose, sharing light with the world.
I have struggled with suicidal thoughts for as long as I can remember until I found my truth. It is through my art, and through my Words Matter exhibit, that I have found out why. I had to go through the struggles to be able to help others who have struggled, and help those who have lost a loved one to suicide. For the first time in my life, I know why I am here. Each sunrise brings new hope, new life, and a reason to keep fighting. Now, I help others find their passion and live a life they love. In 2019, I sold my house and hit the road with my three cats in an RV. My home and studio went anywhere I dreamt of going. Inspiring people along the way, I know I am here to spread love and light and show others that they too can live a life they love. In 2023, my love and I moved into a home in Key West where I currently reside. When I am not in the studio, you can find me in nature, soaking up all the energies of the earth or on some grand adventure in the area I am visiting. Follow my travels HERE. Jessica creates drawings and paintings on commission for clients to support herself and her non-profit Words Matter Art. She was a member of BOSCO , the Treasure Valley Artist's Alliance, and SWELL Artist Collective and helped found Gr8ter and VIVID Artist Spaces
